With the decision of the Kütahya Dumlupınar University Senate, a ceremony was held at our University to present the honorary doctorate of art to tile artists Hamza Üstünkaya and Mehmet Gürsoy, who won the UNESCO Living Human Treasure Award.
Making the opening speech of the ceremony, our Rector Prof. Dr Kazım Uysal said:
As Kütahya Dumlupınar University, we are a productive university in education, science and art, and we are working hard on this path. The fact that all of our personnel have taken it as their duty to instill in their students the commitment to loyalty and protecting their values, gains much more importance in these days when our values are exposed to a global attack.
Kütahya is the capital of Turkish tile art. Our university is working to strengthen this throne and rank. Our Faculty of Fine Arts has graduated many graduates in the fields of Graphic-Visual Communication, Painting, Ceramics and Cartoon Animation, and our graduates have taken important roles in their professions. Our academics have carried out quality events. They have greatly contributed to the construction and consolidation of our corporate identity with the awards they have received in many and various fields.
