10-16 May Disabled Week was celebrated in Kütahya with a large-scale ceremony attended by the provincial protocol.

The program organized in the Provincial Directorate of Family, Labor and Social Services; Governor of Kütahya Ömer Toraman, Kütahya Mayor Prof.Dr. Alim Işık, Rector of Kütahya Dumlupınar University Prof. Dr. Remzi Gören, Deputy Governor of Kütahya Mustafa Güney, Deputy District Gendarmerie Commander Lieutenant Colonel Kamil Çelik, Provincial Police Chief Hasan Çevik, our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Kaan Erarslan, Family, Labor and Social Services Provincial Director Ömer Turan, NGO representatives, disabled people and their relatives attended.

The program started with the reading of the National Anthem and the opening speech of the Governor Dr. Ömar Toraman.Emphasizing that the activities organized will create awareness, Toraman said, “If we can ensure that our disabled citizens are peaceful, happy and safe, we are doing our duty. Otherwise, we need to question the services we carry out. I hope that the quality and impact of these and similar activities will continue to increase. I believe that these will certainly lead to a change, even in our thinking, and create awareness. ”

The program, where the families of the disabled share their feelings and thoughts, continued with the introduction videos of organizations working for the benefit of disabled individuals, including Kütahya Dumlupınar University Barrier-Free Living Student Community.

In the last part of the program, accessibility documents of Bedesten, Faculty of Science and Letters, Faculty of Engineering, Indoor Sports Hall and Olympic Swimming Pool are given to Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Kaan Erarslan by the Mayor Prof. Dr. Alim Işık,
