Dumlupınar University has got into a partnership for EU Project in consequence of International Office Team’s hard work. The Project named as “Knowledge Is Power, Age Ain’t Matter!” with the budget more than 212.000 € has been granted by Polish National Agency under the coordinatorship of WSB Poznan University/ POLAND within the scope of Erasmus+ KA2 Adult Education Strategic Partnership. Project partners are Salerno University/ITALY, Norhtampton University/UK and University of Vigo/SPAIN.
The purpose of the “Knowledge is Power, Age ain't Matter” project is to provide more opportunities for people aged 50+, making them more active and counteracting social and digital exclusion by developing and disseminating know-how on how to commence and conduct non-vocational education at higher education institutions within the framework of the Academic University of the Third Age. It has been planned to offer a curriculum including at least 10 courses for 50+ people. Kick-off meeting of the project was organized on 09-10 December, 2015 in Krakow. The project will have an end on April, 2018.
Assoc.Prof.Dr.Oktay Şahbaz, Lec. Bahar Çelik and Exp. Berrin Demir, who are the responsible for conducting the Project, from the International Relations Office on behalf of Dumlupınar University have participated in the meeting. After hearing about the presentations of universities, experiences and studies related to 50+ people have been shared by partners. Then, methods of research inevitable for creating the curriculum have been identified, and methodology to be used while determining the interests related to the target group has been discussed by the partners.
Prof. Dr. Mehmet Tevfik Bayer, institutional coordinator of the International Relations Office has mentioned his pleasure to have a center for 50+ people in Dumlupınar University, adding that having a role in such kind of projects is highly important, and needed to be supported.
